If you’re on a tight budget, you may find yourself looking for a car that’s around $5,000 or less.  If $5,000 is your budget, and you don’t think you’ll be able to find a car, that’s okay!  I’m going to show you how you can get a car for a great deal, and best of all, one that’s going to run.

When you’re looking for a car, and you’re thinking about spending $5,000 or less, some people often wonder if they are going to get ripped off, and I don’t blame them!  Here are some tips and strategies you can use in order to find a car for you.

Check out Ebay Motors

Many people often pass up Ebay Motors when it comes down to purchasing a used car.  I don’t know how far you want to drive, but if you do a search within a hundred miles of your house or so, you should yield some nice results.  Be sure that you’re working with a seller that has a positive rating, because if you don’t, you may find that you’re either going to get ripped off with your money, or you may find out that the car doesn’t work.

Head to a used dealer

Many used dealerships have a great amount of used cars.  Head to a lot, and see what they have to offer for less than $5,000.  If the car is certified by the manufacture, that’s even better, because then you’ll know that it’s going to work.  Some dealerships will even back up their used cars with a warranty for 1 year or so.

Look at AutoTrader.com

Like Ebay, AutoTrader.com is a great way to find used cars for a great price.  You can find dealerships, and private sellers.  Remember, when you’re on the hunt to find a cheap car, you have to be realistic when it comes to your searches.  You can’t expect to find a BMW for less than $5,000.  I think you get the point here.

Check out CraigsList.org

CraigsList is a great avenue, but you have to be careful here, since anyone can post anything.  I highly advise that if you get a car off this website, that you do a through check with the car.  If you can get a mechanic to look at it, this will make it even better for you.

Try these 4 spots when you’re looking for a reasonable car.  As long as you’re realistic with your expectations, you shouldn’t have a problem at all finding a car for under $5,000 that runs great!
